International Symposium on Turkish-Georgian Relations

Since 2016, with the support of the Turkish Historical Society and hosted by various institutions, international workshops and symposiums focused on “Turkish-Georgian Relations” have been organized.

The inaugural workshop, titled “Turkish-Georgian Relations: History and Modernity,” was held at Samtskhe-Javakheti State University in Ahıska, Georgia, from April 21 to 24, 2016. With the decision to continue the event series in a thematic manner, the “International Turkish-Georgian Relations” Symposium in Trabzon on November 23-24, 2017; the “Turkish-Georgian Relations in the Middle Ages” Symposium at Gori State Education University on October 30-November 1, 2018; the “Turkish-Georgian Relations in the Modern and Contemporary Eras” Symposium in Ankara on December 2-3, 2019; the “IV. International Turkish-Georgian Relations Symposium” (focused on Turkish-Georgian Relations in the 20th Century) in Tbilisi on November 26-28, 2021; and the “I. International Turkish-Georgian Young Historians Symposium” in Gori, Georgia, from April 27 to 29, 2023 were organized.

To further enhance the positive academic relations between the two countries, the “5th International Turkish-Georgian Relations Symposium (Diplomatic and Scientific Relations)”, hosted by our Society, will be held in Ankara on May 9-10, 2024 with the participation of scholars from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
