The next guest of the “Science, Culture, and Art Conferences,” organized by the Turkish Historical Society to reveal Türkiye’s accumulation in the fields of science, culture, and art on the centenary of the Republic, will be Prof. Dr. Altay Tayfun Özcan.
His lecture, scheduled for Friday, December 13, 2024, at 15:00, will take place in the Conference Hall of the historic building of the Turkish Historical Society in Sıhhiye. The event will be open to public participation.
Prof. Dr. Altay Tayfun ÖZCAN
Prof. Dr. Altay Tayfun Özcan was born in Giresun on May 15, 1979. After completing his primary, secondary, and high school education in Giresun, he graduated from the History Department of the Faculty of Letters at Ege University in 2003. He obtained his master’s degree in Medieval History from the Institute of Social Sciences at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2005 and completed his PhD in the Turkish History Program at the Turkish World Research Institute of Ege University in 2010.
In 2015, Özcan was appointed Associate Professor in General Turkish History and was promoted to Professorship in the same department in 2020. Altay Tayfun Özcan was awarded the Copyright Award of the Turkish Academy of Sciences in 2018 for his work titled Mongol-Russian Relations (1223-1341) and in 2020 for his work titled Khazar Khaganate and the World Around it. On the other hand, he was awarded the Ziya Gökalp Turkish Hearths Science and Encouragement Award by the Turkish Hearths in 2019.
Currently a faculty member in the History Department at Dumlupınar University, Prof. Dr. Özcan was elected Scientific Board Member of the Atatürk Research Center Scientific Board in 2024. In his work, he employs English, Latin, and Russian.
