As part of the “Science, Culture, and Art Conferences” series, Prof. Dr. Gülru Necipoğlu will give a lecture titled “Re-Looking at the Design and Compilation of Two Palace Albums in Light of the ‘Frankish’ Style” at our Sıhhiye Campus on Friday, April 11th. The event is open to the public.
PROF. DR. GÜLRU NECİPOĞLU
She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Art History from Wesleyan University, followed by a Master’s degree in Islamic Art and Architecture from Harvard University. She completed her Ph.D. in the History of Art and Architecture at the same institution in 1986.
Necipoğlu currently holds the position of Aga Khan Professor of Islamic Art and serves as the Director of the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture at Harvard University. Her scholarly contributions include more than fifteen books and book chapters, as well as numerous articles focusing on Islamic art, architecture, ornamental aesthetics and intercultural artistic exchanges between the Islamic world and the West.
She is also member of several prestigious academic and scholarly institutions, including the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and the British Academy.
