As part of the “Science, Culture, and Art Conferences” series organized by our Society, Prof. Dr. Feridun Emecen will deliver a lecture titled \u201cA Defeatist Treaty and Its Contemporary Perceptions: The Treaty of K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck Kaynarca as Portrayed by Ottoman Historians”. PROF. DR. FER\u0130DUN M. EMECEN<\/strong><\/p>\n He completed his doctorate in Ottoman History at Istanbul University in 1985 with a thesis titled \u201cSocial and Economic History of Manisa and its region in the 16th<\/sup> Century\u201d. He became an associate professor in 1989 and a professor in 1995. Emecen, who has held various administrative positions at Istanbul University, is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Letters at Istanbul 29 May\u0131s University. Emecen, who has many works and researches in various fields of Ottoman History, is one of the few experts especially on the Ottoman Classical Period and before. Emecen\u2019s being an Honorary Member of the Turkish Historical Society and a Member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences also indicate his distinguished position in historical studies. Emecen was awarded the Turkish Culture Research Award by the Elginkan Foundation in 2014.
