As part of the “Science, Culture, and Art Conferences” series organized by our Society, Prof. Dr. Azmi \u00d6zcan will deliver a lecture titled “Looking at Turkish History Holistically (What Does History Tell Us?)” on Friday, January 17. \nPROF. DR. AZM\u0130 \u00d6ZCAN
\nProf. Dr. Azmi \u00d6zcan completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Theology, Ankara University, in 1983. He earned his Master’s degree from the University of Manchester in 1986 and his PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, in 1990, with a thesis titled “Indian Muslims and the Ottomans 1877-1914: A Study of Indo-Muslim Attitudes to Pan-Islamism and Turkey.” Prof. Dr. \u00d6zcan worked as a researcher at the Center for Islamic Studies (\u0130SAM) until 2001 and served as the institution’s president during the 1996-1997 period. He has held academic positions at Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University, Marmara University, and Sakarya University. From 2007 to 2016, he served as the founding rector of Bilecik \u015eeyh Edebali University. He is currently continuing his academic work at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vak\u0131f University. His primary research areas include Ottoman-Indian relations, colonialism, contemporary Ottoman political history, and Ottoman-British relations. Some of his notable publications include Pan-Islamism: Indian Muslims, the Ottomans, and Britain (1877-1924), The Caliphate Debates in England 1873-1909, and The Press and Anglo-Ottoman Relations, 1876\u20131909.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
